Poly Firmware Updates on Flare Kite

Modified on Mon, 30 Dec, 2024 at 11:41 AM

Keeping your Poly Group and X series codecs up to date is essential for optimal performance and functionality. Flare Kite makes it easy to manage firmware updates with its integrated feature. However, your Poly device must be under a maintenance contract with Poly to use this feature.

The update process may vary slightly depending on your Poly model. Let’s walk through the steps for each.

Poly Group Series

For the Poly Group series, you’ll need to have your maintenance key ready. This key is issued by Poly. If you don’t have it available, contact your Poly representative for assistance.

Poly X Series

For the Poly X series, the maintenance license is automatically validated, so there’s no need to have your maintenance key on hand. If you encounter any license invalidation errors, contact your Poly representative for support.

Step 1: Enter Your Poly Maintenance Key

  1. Navigate to the Poly device you want to enable in Flare Kite.
  2. Click the Admin button on the device’s DNA page to access options.
  3. Select the Firmware Update button.
  4. In the Enter License Key field, input your Poly maintenance key and click Confirm.

Step 2: Firmware Update Features

After enabling the feature, two new functionalities will appear on your device’s DNA page:

  1. Firmware Version Display: Shows the current firmware version and any available updates for the device.
  2. Firmware Update Status: Provides a button to view the status of firmware updates initiated from Flare Kite.

Viewing the "Codec Firmware Update" Details:

  • Clicking the Codec Firmware Update button will open a pop-up window showing details of the software version installed for your system, camera, or remote.
  • You’ll also see timestamps for the Last Failed and Last Completed updates.

Step 3: Performing a Firmware Update

  1. Return to the Admin section of the device you wish to update.
  2. Select the Firmware Update button.
  3. Click Confirm to begin the update process.

All Done!
Once the update is complete, you can revisit Step 2 to check the status of the update and verify the changes.

Important Notes

  • In some instances, if the codec update fails, a manual reboot of the codec may be required. While this is rare, it’s important to be aware of this possibility.
  • Always ensure your device is under a valid maintenance contract with Poly to access these features.

With Flare Kite’s streamlined process, managing your Poly firmware updates has never been easier. If you need further assistance, contact Flare Kite Support or refer to our Help Center.
