Requirements: Collector Installation & Ports

Modified on Mon, 30 Dec, 2024 at 11:34 AM

Flare Kite simplifies the process of communicating with your local site equipment and cloud-based services. To efficiently collect and process data, we utilize two straightforward methods:

Flare Kite App

The Flare Kite app is a Windows®-based application built in C++ that gathers data from your local IoT devices, as well as Polycom, Cisco, Logitech video devices, and several other brands. It then securely pushes this data to the Flare Kite cloud platform. We recommend one download/instance (data collector) per site for optimal performance.

Flare Kite Cloud Platform

The Flare Kite cloud platform is a hosted service that receives data from the Flare Kite collector and connects to other cloud services through APIs. This enables seamless cloud-to-cloud communication and efficient data collection from your service providers. The platform is fully hosted by us, so all you need is a browser to access your monitoring dashboard.

Flare Kite App Requirements

The Flare Kite app is designed to run on a Windows® OS. Resource requirements vary based on the number of devices connected, but here are the recommended minimum specifications to get started:

  • OS: Windows® Server 2019, Windows® 10, or Windows® Server 2012 R2, or any Windows® desktop
  • Memory: 4GB
  • Storage: 10GB
  • CPU: 1.5 GHz quad-core
  • Network: RJ-45 Gigabit

Flare Kite App Ports

The Flare Kite app connects to Polycom and Cisco equipment over HTTPS (TCP 443). Collected data is securely transmitted to the Flare Kite cloud platform via HTTPS. We also recommend white listing the the domain *.flarekite.com

Additional Info

The system running the Flare Kite app must remain powered on and connected to the environment being monitored. Once the setup is complete, you can access your monitoring dashboard online.

You can also monitor the performance of the system where the app is installed via the online Flare Kite dashboard under the "Subscriptions" section. For optimal performance, one download/instance per site is recommended.
